Use of variables

Postby Mats on Thu May 16, 2013 8:33 am

We would like to use WinTask for automating some tasks. However, we need a facility where the data being entered changes each time. For example, we create a new user on a CRM system by going through various screens. Each time we run it, the UserID is different, but is used in several places in the script. To do that, we would need a variable that is prompted for, and that variable is then used throughout the script. Can WinTask do that? Can it prompt for user input, and use that data in several places in the script?

The simplest is to use the WinTask function Inputbox$, it prompts the user and stores in a variable the user answer, and then you can send the variable content to a web page or an application.

If you prefer a full automated solution, you can put all the userids in an Excel file for example, and in the WinTask script, using ReadExcel, you populate an array with those different userids. Then in a loop, you can process each userid.

Best regards.
